A turning point for F1's most glamorous event
The 82nd Monaco Grand Prix is changing its name and promises to thrill the Principality with the arrival on the grid of highly anticipated duos from Ferrari and Mercedes.
This is a historic first and a symbolic change for the premier event on the Formula 1 calendar, which seals a strong partnership with the Swiss watchmaker, a partner of the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) since 2011. With a shared history spanning several decades, Monaco and TAG Heuer are linked and the Principality is considered the spiritual cradle of the brand. "This is a truly fantastic moment in the history of Formula 1, as TAG Heuer becomes the first-ever title partner of the Monaco Grand Prix, a circuit that featured in the very first season of this sport in 1950, and with which we celebrate our 75e anniversary this year,” said Stefano Domenicali, president of Formula 1.
Ferrari: a dream duo
On the track, all attention is focused on Scuderia Ferrari and its star driver duo: Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. In 2025, the seven-time world champion left Mercedes to join Maranello and take on one final challenge alongside the Monegasque. But his debut was difficult aboard the SF-25. Charles Leclerc, however, has proven more consistent. Having scored Ferrari's first podium of the season in Saudi Arabia, he dreams of shining on home soil, on this circuit he knows inside and out. For his seventh season in red, he hopes to repeat the feat of 2024 and give the Principality another moment in history.
Kimi Antonelli, the future of Mercedes
Another highlight: Andrea Kimi Antonelli's debut at Mercedes. At just 18 years old, the young driver succeeds Hamilton and already embodies the next generation. "It's incredible to be here, it's a privilege to be able to be behind the wheel of this car, to drive for Mercedes," he said during the presentation of the 2025 season. Trained from the age of 11 in the Mercedes fold, the Italian prodigy already has a very impressive track record. For his debut in the premier class, he can rely on George Russell, now a figurehead of the team: "I know how much Lewis has supported me throughout my career as a junior driver, and when I was his teammate. I learned a lot from him, and I hope to be able to play a similar role for Kimi." For his part, Kimi Antonelli confides with maturity: "Reaching F1 is a dream that I've been pursuing since I was a little boy. I want to thank the team for the support they have given me throughout my career, and the confidence they have placed in me today. I still have a lot to learn, but I feel ready for this opportunity. I will focus on my progression and on achieving the best possible results for the team. I am also very happy to become George's teammate. He also went through the junior program, like me, and is someone I respect enormously. He is incredibly fast, a multiple Grand Prix winner, and has already helped me progress as a driver. I am looking forward to learning from him and collaborating with him on the track." Now, Monaco fans are waiting to see if the rookie will follow in his predecessor's footsteps and prove himself on the Monaco corners!
