Les Roches, the iconic hotel reborn

On the Aiguebelle coast, in Le Lavandou, the Hotel Les Roches reopens its doors after several months of renovations by the Pietri Architectes agency. The establishment, built in the 1930s and long frequented by artists and cultural figures, is the subject of a major revival project by the owners of the Hotel Les Barmes de l'Ours. Redesigned as a contemporary building with clean lines, the hotel now offers 40 rooms and suites, facing the sea. The materials chosen—terrazzo, wood, raw concrete—aim to interact with the Mediterranean landscape. A former vacation spot for icons such as Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, and Thomas Mann, Les Roches aims to reconnect with its artistic heritage. A collection of contemporary works is on display, including pieces by Ma Desheng, Maki Ohkojima, Arman, Vladimir Zbynovsky, and Jean-Daniel Lorieux. Dining options include two distinct spaces: L'Oursin, a gourmet restaurant run by chef Antoine Gras, and La Langouste on the rooftop, a more informal venue featuring grilled cuisine. Sommelier Magali Delalex complements this culinary offering. The hotel also features a Sisley spa called L'Oiseau Bleu, with a sea-facing space designed to complement the relaxing experience. Combining heritage restoration with a desire for local roots, Les Roches is part of a movement to revive the Côte d'Azur's great historic establishments.
