Rénovation d’un local en logement à patio, Cannes

Conversion of existing premises into a patio apartment, Cannes
A ground floor lay unoccupied in Le Suquet, in Cannes’ old town. The space had no openings in the external walls, a rough floor and broken pipes. Its heterogeneous stone and brick walls, different levels, trap doors, and hidden basement guided the project's design: converting it into a pleasant living space with a patio, bay windows, glass roof, facade, and partition. Living spaces – living room, kitchen, and dining room – are subdivided according to light distribution. This refurbishment's leitmotiv was developing a Mediterranean style of living while paying meticulous attention to detail. All it took was subtly revealing and sculpting every nook and cranny with great precision and high-quality, sturdy materials.
The jury's opinion: "People think of calling in an architect for large-scale projects, but not always for smaller ones. But architects can be effective, even in the smallest of spaces, as seen in this minimalist project."
