The single-storey house with a swimming pool, accessed by an old forest road, seamlessly reveals the site topography without requiring any land shaping. Dwelling spaces are arranged and built in a U-shape around a small interior courtyard, like a farmhouse. It comprises two main volumes: the first, angled to accommodate the living functions, houses a Japanese bath with a view of the olive grove, a living area with a 9-metre portico, and an exhibition space designed to house the owner’s art collection. The rural character of this contemporary house reflects in the choice of materials, with Roman tile roofs, whitewashed façades, and occasional sanded concrete blocks.
The jury’s opinion: This project is exceptionally well-integrated into its rural setting, it is great art. The house and its water feature enhance the beauty of the terraced plot, while the interior is minimalist and uncluttered, like a gallery.
