A unique event. Each summer since 2014, the Yacht Club de Monaco has become an incubator and laboratory for the energy technologies of tomorrow’s yachting. From 6 to 10 July, the 8th edition of the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge brought together 32 teams under the watchful eye of Prince Albert II, President of the Yacht Club de Monaco, explorer Mike Horn, and Jean Todt, President of Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile. No less than 22 universities from all over the world, along with some twenty companies and start-ups, came to present their latest creations in sustainable propulsion in the course of round tables and lectures, Tech Talks, exhibitions, trials, and full-scale confrontations on the Monegasque waterfront. Placing particular focus on hydrogen during the second Monaco Hydrogen Working Group.
The Yacht Club de Monaco also created the SEA Index in 2020 in collaboration with Credit Suisse—a benchmark to target yachts over 40m by evaluating their propulsion system and generator CO2 emissions—intending to position Monaco as a centre of innovation. The Principality’s maritime ambassador is also hosting the Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina day of meetings on 20 September, organised by Monegasque company Monaco Marina Management, specialists in developing sustainable marina projects. Industry leaders, innovators, investors, and international marina developers will be discussing the development of eco-friendly, efficient, attractive, and practical marinas.
La prochaine édition du Monaco Energy Boat Challenge se tiendra du 5 au 9 juillet 2022
