A dedicated museum opened recently in Weimar to mark the centenary of the school that fathered modern design and is still today inspiring creatives of every ilk.
Junghans | Pared.
The Max Bill Automatic 100 Jahre Bauhaus by Junghans, a limited edition of 1000 watches, revisits Bauhaus basics: matt silver dial for the Dessau building's white walls, charcoal-grey case for its frontage, grey strap evoking the signature Bauhaus construction material, concrete.
Fleux | Basic.
The Bauhaus was born of a ground-breaking desire to blend functional and artistic, an idea that now permeates furniture design. The Paris firm Fleux pays tribute to the school's simple geometrical shapes and elemental materials with its Air Noir sideboard in solid ashwood.
Leica | Celebration.
The design movement embraced photography too, so Leica marks the centenary with a special 150-piece edition of the Leica CL 100 Jahre Bauhaus compact camera. The set reflects Bauhaus design principles perfectly and features the logotype created in 1929 for its quarterly magazine.
Akris | Graphic.
By decorating the Swiss fashion house's autumn wardrobe with coloured geometrical figures, creative director Albert Kriemler tunes into the zeitgeist.
