Marseille's must-see artistic event returns for its 12th edition. From August 29 to 31, the PAREIDOLIE International Contemporary Drawing Fair once again takes over the Château de Servières, which has become the beating heart of the contemporary graphic design scene. For a weekend, collectors, the curious, artists, and professionals gather in an atmosphere as demanding as it is friendly, to the rhythm of graphic discoveries, encounters, and performances. This year, seventeen French and European galleries, including several visiting for the first time, make up a cutting-edge and stimulating lineup. Established names such as Galerie Éric Dupont (Paris), Espace à Vendre (Nice), and Annie Gentils (Antwerp), rub shoulders with more emerging structures, in a deliberate desire for diversity and curatorial rigor. The fair also pays tribute to Frédéric Pajak, guest of honor, whose work blends literature and drawing with rare intensity. The artist Jérémie Setton is also on the bill, as are the Marseille Museums, given carte blanche for the exhibition “Tattoo. Stories of the Mediterranean,” extended with performances by Jimmy Richer. Paréidolie pays particular attention to young artists with the DEJA Prize, which recognizes graduates of the L'Ecole(s) du Sud network, and with other distinctions such as the Villa Cameline Prize and the Pébéo Prize. The Maison Abandonnée – Villa Cameline (Nice) is also part of the program with carte blanche for Franck Saïssi. A pop-up bookstore (Histoire de l'œil), a signing program, and meetings enrich this weekend dedicated to drawing in all its forms. Finally, PAREIDOLIE kicks off the SAISON DU DESSIN, a satellite event that runs until December throughout the South region and beyond, with around thirty partner venues. Starting in October, the Château de Servières will continue its graphic adventure with a monographic exhibition by Massinissa Selmani. True to its open-minded spirit, this 12th edition confirms PAREIDOLIE as one of the major European events dedicated to contemporary drawing.
