From every angle
Aged only 20, the head costume designer of the Marseille cabaret L'étoilebleue proves that there is no age limit to making talent shine.
Always believe in your dreams: this could be Anatole Fauquet's motto when, after graduating high school at just 15, he decided to leave his hometown of Dunkirk to train in fashion in Marseille. Since then, he has been brimming with ideas and launched his own fashion house, Maison Fauquet: "An elegant and extravagant clothing brand, with a decidedly red-carpet vibe." At the same time, he worked as a waiter at the cabaret L'Étoile Bleue to make ends meet, before moving behind the scenes: "It was while talking with the cabaret's president, Manoah Michelot, that I realized we shared a common vision and that we could build something harmonious." A year ago, he became the cabaret's head costume designer, drawing inspiration from both the world of the French cancan and Lady Gaga's music videos. “For the 3 2 1 Chantez! revue, we created around 150 costumes. In addition, we also work for external professionals who book the cabaret and sometimes ask us to create new shows to complement the existing program. Since the launch in September, this has led us to create about twenty more costumes.” Meanwhile, this Alexander McQueen admirer is also ready to join the fray: “My goal is to fully launch the production of Maison Fauquet, with an initial run of around 200 pieces, to launch the website, and to implement a comprehensive communication strategy so that the project can finally reach its full potential and come to fruition.” He will also contribute to the tenth anniversary celebrations of L'étoile bleue by creating numerous new costumes for the cabaret's upcoming show on Boulevard Jeanne-d'Arc: “I can't wait! We guarantee a wow factor; it's going to be spectacular!”
