It took 18 months to transform this 18th-century family chateau into a 5-star hotel. Once the home of the Marquis de Saporta et de Fonscolombe, the listed historic building has been meticulously restored under the watchful eye of its owner, Hélène Martel-Massignac. The function rooms have all the opulent feel of the days when the Saporta family entertained there. The decoration includes 18th-century Genoa leather and Chinese wallpapers, which goes to show how painstaking and luxurious the refur­bishment is. The chateau boasts 50 rooms and suites, each fitted out with carved wood, rare, silky fabrics and wood and marble bathrooms. The chef, Nadège Serret, selects the season’s fresh regional produce for her impulsive, youthful and flavoursome cooking. Guests at lunch or dinner can enjoy a view of the park and arboretum, and afterwards stroll there among the pools and fountains. French taste at its finest!
