Aéroport Marseille-Provence

  • Beautiful upgrade

Traffic at Marseille-Provence airport has risen from 6 million passengers to 8.5 million in ten years, and a figure of 10 million is expected by 2020. There are now direct flights to over 100 destinations, up from 58 in 2006. The proportion of international traffic has increased steadily, from 45% to 59%. And there’s more to come. The airport has embarked on a revolutionary transformation, with a new brand, a new online experience, major architectural and landscaping operations and a complete reshaping of the customer experience in the airport. It all adds up to an investment programme of €0.5 billion between now and 2025. The airport’s original approach was based on consultations with customers and the region’s economic and tourist trade players. Users could post ideas on a special website and vote for the suggestions posted; thousands of ideas were gathered and 100,000 votes cast, giving the planners a better grasp of expectations and their order of priority. The main values users want are kindness, simplicity, audacity and a stronger regional identity. This will translate as easier access, less waiting time, a more welcoming reception, new online services, and an added touch of soul with the Provençal identity more markedly present. The passenger experience will be enriched with sensory immersion corridors (a world first for an airport), outdoor terraces and redesigned lounge and catering areas.
