Valentine & Co

05.2017

When her fox terrier Valentine died, Rachèle Zenou wanted some way to pay her homage; so she launched a brand of 100% French-made accessories in honour of her favourite doggy breed.

Rachèle Zenou is an all-round artist. She started out expressing her talent through interior decoration, flowers and photography before moving on to fashion – to be precise, accessories and leather goods with a highly personal stamp. Until then, no brand had dared adopt her know-how and all-French manufacturing technique with invisible stitching for the linings. Rachèle displays a whole range of bags and accessories in her shop in Docks Village, but note that you can also order a bespoke bag – that’s her speciality. You select the material, the colour, the shape and the personal trim and she makes a totally unique bag, just for you. And that’s not all; you can settle in comfortably and watch the artist at work in her glassed-in workshop. You’ll see the object of your desires take gradual shape as the skilful hands cut and stitch and fold. And behind all this there is a tale to tell. Missing her little dog Valentine, recently deceased, she was looking for a good way to maintain a link with her and keep her at her side. The solutions she found was to make a line of bags and baskets printed with photos of scenes with fox terriers. The line was called Zaza. Since 2014 she has extended her collection, first with different kinds of high-quality French leather and then with ready-to-wear collections.
