L’Âne Bleu

  • New showroom, beautiful things

L’Âne Bleu, celebrating its 20th birthday this year, has moved to new premises and furbished them in a warm, sophisticated style that is the perfect foil for the home design products on show. Welcome to 46 Rue Breteuil.

Twenty years after her mother launched L’Âne Bleu, Virginie Dumon wanted to mark the occasion and celebrate two decades of channelling top design trends. The new decade, starting with the new showroom (formerly a hammam, in a mansion in the heart of Marseille), looks even more promising. Virginie has a sharp eye for line, colour and material and she has brought together all the upscale brands and collections she likes best, including Caravane, Sarah Lavoine, DCW, Brokis, Tom Dixon, Ledun, Paola Navone, Khan Design, India Madhavi and more. The exclusive Neijmati furniture lines are here, as are accessories and fabrics made in Taroudant, Morocco and bearing the Virginie Dumon and Marie-Hélène Le Grand label. It is all beautifully staged in an inspired go-anywhere spirit. As well as the showroom and the products they sign, the L’Âne Bleu team are also interior design consultants with a number of successful projects in their portfolio, for private and official clients. This year they are also opening a second decoration showroom, at Domaine de l’Angueiroun in Bormes-les-Mimosas in the Var. And if you’re wondering where the strange name comes from (‘the blue donkey’), it’s that Virginie’s grandfather loved donkeys, and blue is the colour of the Mediterranean with its many sources of inspiration.
