 DILEQUESI 1

Jérôme Normand, chanteur et saxophoniste, et le pianiste Richard Vicart.

Here we have two guys who were born in Northern France but live in the South and play Latin jazz – a mix that has been working most successfully ever since the paths of saxophonist and singer Jérôme and pianist Richard crossed five years ago. “I was fed up of playing in high-end hotel bars! I wanted to broaden my jazz repertoire and also find someone to form a duo with to play social functions,” says Richard. After a few unsuccessful try-outs he found his perfect partner, musically and philosophically, in Jérôme, who believes: “Music is made of dreams and travel”, having forged himself a Latin sensibility in the Caribbean, Brazil, Mexico and Cuba. So the stars were aligned for Dilequesi to be born, its music hallmarked by two enterprising careers. As yet no compositions of their own, just skilful arrangements injecting Latin American rhythms into, for example, Julio Iglesias, Charles Aznavour, Enrico Macias; rhythms that lift the soul and bring joy to the heart. “We don't play from necessity, we play for pleasure, our own and our audience's. Life and paradise are here and now,” maintains Jérôme. You can't argue with that!
